The purpose of this website is to create a information centre that is commited entirely to Lee Enfield rifle.

The SMLE (Short, Magazine Lee-Enfiled as it was from 1907 on) is the best known of all British rifles and it accompanied British Army at all the theaters of all 20th century's major military conflicts. It was also widely spread across all armies of the Commonwealth. The construction proved one of the most reliable and effective of all bolt-action type rifles of the times and this is the reason it served incessantly - though with necessary upgrades in the meantime - from the late 1890s up to the middle of 1950s, with many items being still used by British army up till 1980s. It made it's presence in the other Commonweath countries even longer, with SMLE still being used by some army branches.
